A mysterious castle, belonging to Lord Evrard.
Description[]
Exterior[]
The castle is walled by dark gray stone with gates of dark wood, as if they were burnt. Past the gates is a bridge that leads into the inner courtyard. The courtyard is barely lit, with a few scattered torches on the far walls, and has an odd mix of forgotten wood, debris, and carriages scattered around, appearing deserted and ill-kept. At the far end of the courtyard is a set of stone steps that lead up to a large set of double doors. The doors look as though they were once red and are reminiscent of the ones that led into Carcosa.[1]
Interior[]
Beyond the doors is a hallway, a dark, unlit stone passage. The walls are mostly barren with the exception of a suit of armor on the left. Ahead on the right is a large curved opening to a large room. It is a common room with a large fireplace and a huge hearth. Three ornate, wooden, high-backed chairs sit before the fireplace. At the center of the room is a long table with prepared food atop it.
Continuing down the hallway leading from the front door is the entrance to five sleeping chambers. Beyond the chambers is a set of spiral stairs, going up and down. At the top of the staircase is a locked door leading to Lord Evrard's room, which sits right above the rest of the rooms. At the bottom of the stairs is a door that leads to a small room with one exit. The common room has three exits. One is the passage with the front door, bed chambers, and staircase. The remaining two passages are on the opposite wall; one houses the kitchen, library, and a few closets, while the other houses the chapel and garderobe.[2]
Occupants[]
The owner of the castle and primary occupant is Lord Evrard. The only other full-time occupants are a guard with his mouth sewn shut and Alia Showl.
